Update from Ansumana Kamara in Freetown re: Coronavirus
“As a nation we have realised that Covid-19 is not going away any time sooner. The disease is here to stay just like any other such as malaria, typhoid, chicken pox etc. the cost of putting the economy on hold far outweighs the benefits. Seeing the reality, Government has thought it wise to ease a number of restrictions while at the same requiring the public to follow the official health protocols such as regular hand wash, use of face masks, social distancing and enhancing the capacity of our fragile healthcare system to cope with any surge in reported cases.”
A synopsis of schools
Schools have now reopened, children are now back to their normal learning. Previously measures were put in place in compliance with official health advice. Now a hybrid digital learning including use of radio, TV and internet can replace classroom learning and no child, irrespective of economic background, is left behind. The public, media and civil societies have urged Government to sustain its Free Quality Education for the benefit of all.
